Meralco Spreads Christmas Light And Hope Across Batangas

The Christmas spirit is shining a little brighter in Batangas this year as the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) and its social development arm, One Meralco Foundation (OMF), team up with the Archdiocese of Lipa to spread holiday cheer across the province.

Staying true to their mission of “spreading the light,” OMF has started installing solar streetlamps in church grounds across different parishes under the archdiocese. The initiative is part of Meralco’s broader community electrification programs—projects that bring power to low-income households, public schools, rural health centers, livelihood facilities, and water systems in hard-to-reach areas.

The goal is simple:
Expand access to reliable energy, improve safety, and uplift communities that often get left behind.

But the holiday giving doesn’t end with lights.

Meralco also distributed Noche Buena packages to indigent families in Batangas. The gift-giving was led by Meralco executives—COO and OMF Trustee Engr. Ronnie Aperocho, Chief External and Government Affairs Officer Atty. Arnel Casanova, CSR Chief and OMF President Jeffrey Tarayao—together with Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera. The distribution coincided with the Christmas lighting ceremony at the historic Metropolitan Cathedral of San Sebastian in Lipa City.

Meralco currently services Sto. Tomas City, Batangas City, and San Pascual, and says these initiatives reflect its continued commitment to supporting the province.

“We join our kababayans in Batangas in celebrating Christmas through the display of lights and gift-giving,” Tarayao said. “We hope that by coming together, we bring warmth and joy—especially to families in need.”

Casanova added that this year’s efforts aim to inspire hope and strengthen community ties.

“This holiday season, Meralco is illuminating our churches to strengthen the spirit of community. As a proud member of the Batangas community, we remain committed to empowering progress and uplifting lives,” he said.

With lights glowing in more parishes and more families receiving holiday cheer, Meralco and OMF say they will continue powering not just homes—but hope—in Batangas and beyond.
