P100K Bounty Raised As Hunt for Kobe's Abuser Intensifies

Public outrage continues to swell in Valenzuela City after a dog named Kobe was found brutally maimed, prompting a ₱100,000 reward for information that could lead to the suspect behind the act.
Kobe, a mixed-breed dog, was discovered in Brgy. Balangkas with his tongue deliberately cut off, according to the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS). The organization confirmed that the case is now under investigation and has appealed to the community to help identify the perpetrator. The disturbing incident, partially caught on CCTV, has spread widely online and triggered calls for justice from animal welfare advocates across the country.
The ₱100,000 reward was offered by DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, who condemned the cruelty and urged residents of Valenzuela—particularly those near the incident site—to help authorities track down the individual responsible.
Gatchalian encouraged the public to send any credible information directly to PAWS through its official Facebook page or to local authorities assisting with the case.
As the search continues, animal rights groups are calling for stronger enforcement of the Animal Welfare Act, emphasizing that Kobe’s case should serve as a wake-up call for communities and local governments to take animal cruelty more seriously.
“Kobe’s suffering should not be ignored,” PAWS said in earlier statements, stressing the need for accountability.
The investigation remains active, with officials hoping that the reward will encourage witnesses to step forward and help bring justice for Kobe.
