The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) continues to extend help to communities hit hard by recent typhoons—this time bringing much-needed relief to families in the Bicol region.

League staff, together with Rain or Shine veteran Beau Belga, traveled to Libon, Albay to distribute rice, canned goods, and assorted food packs to residents still reeling from the devastation of super typhoon Uwan. The donation drive took place at the Macapagal Gym, benefiting around 4,000 people.

Belga, a proud son of Gubat, Sorsogon, personally helped hand out the goods. The effort was made possible with the support of Libon Mayor Mark Sayson, Vice Mayor Janero Saclag, Albay Governor Noel Rosal, and the Ang Probinsiyano Partylist.

Typhoon Uwan brought such severe damage that the entire province of Albay was placed under a state of calamity.

“We asked what they needed most, and their priority was food—so that’s exactly what we brought,” said PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial.

He also thanked the local government units for helping the league reach the storm-stricken families quickly and efficiently.

Bicol is the second stop for the PBA’s relief mission in just one week, following a similar donation drive in Liloan, Cebu.

Although the PBA resumes its Philippine Cup action this Friday after a three-week FIBA window break, Marcial said the league is already planning another provincial charity event soon.

The ongoing campaign forms part of the PBA’s 50th anniversary celebration, carried out through its Alagang PBA program—proof that the league’s heart continues to beat for the Filipino people.
