Pokwang Fires Back, Lawmaker Pushes Back Harder Over Antipolo Road Rage Case

A public war of words is unfolding after Bicol Saro Representative Terry Ridon responded sharply to actress and TV host Marietta “Pokwang” Subong’s recent video statement about the road rage incident involving her brother, Carlo Subong, in Antipolo City.

In a statement dated December 17, Ridon said he was taken aback by Pokwang’s remarks, where she appeared to accuse an unnamed lawmaker of spreading photos of her entire family online and hinted at possible cyberlibel and cyberbullying cases. Ridon said the insinuation could only be referring to him, as he has been vocal about road abuse issues, including the controversial road rage case.

Ridon stressed that the focus should not be on Pokwang, but on her brother.

According to the lawmaker, it is Carlo Subong who owes the public—and more importantly, the victims—an apology. He pointed out that Carlo allegedly issued grave threats, caused physical injuries, and committed acts of child abuse against Crispin Villamor and his young daughter during the incident.

Ridon also denied claims that photos of Pokwang’s entire family were circulated online. He clarified that only photos of Carlo Subong, the person directly involved in the incident, were shared. He added that the public has the right to know the identity of individuals who commit crimes against ordinary citizens.

The congressman further defended Congress’ involvement, saying lawmakers have full oversight powers when it comes to transportation and public safety issues, including road rage incidents—regardless of where they happen.

Addressing the threat of legal action, Ridon said there can be no cyberlibel or cyberbullying when the information shared is factual and publicly available. He noted that the photos of Carlo Subong are public, the LTO’s Show Cause Order is an official document, and the incident itself happened in full public view.

As Carlo Subong appeared before the Land Transportation Office on Wednesday, Ridon said his team was present to observe the proceedings. He emphasized that while due process must be respected, the end goal is accountability—including the permanent revocation of Subong’s driver’s license if warranted.

Ridon added that his office will also coordinate with the Department of Justice to ensure criminal charges are pursued, including grave threats, physical injuries, and child abuse. He stressed that these are public offenses and cannot simply be settled privately.

He ended with a pointed reminder: Pokwang is not the victim in this case.

“The real victims,” Ridon said, “are Crispin and his child—and the ordinary Filipinos who suffer abuse from people like Carlo Subong.”
