The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) ended Thursday’s trading in the red, retreating below the 6,100 level as selling pressure slightly outweighed gains across the market.

On December 18, 2025, the benchmark index closed at 6,031.48, down 47.54 points or 0.78 percent. Trading activity remained relatively active, with total value turnover reaching PHP 12.8 billion.

Market breadth was mixed, as 91 stocks advanced while 95 declined, with 66 issues finishing unchanged. The close reflected cautious sentiment among investors amid selective profit-taking.

Foreign investors were net sellers during the session. Total foreign buying amounted to Php 10.44 billion, while foreign selling reached Php 10.81 billion, resulting in net foreign selling of Php 361.16 million.

Despite the decline, analysts noted that the market’s movement showed resilience, with buying interest still present in select stocks. Investors are expected to continue monitoring both local and global developments for clearer direction in the coming sessions.
