Return Unsafe Generic LPG Tanks Before 2025 Deadline, Says Regasco Chief

Regasco founder and CEO Arnel Ty has a clear message for all LPG consumers: stop using unregistered, unbranded, and unsafe “generic” LPG cylinders—and return them while you still can.
In a public advisory, Ty reminded consumers that these generic tanks have no brand, no safety markings, and no proper certification, making them risky and illegal under the LPG Industry Regulation Act (RA 11592).
Ty urged households to exchange any generic cylinders they may have with their DOE-authorized LPG dealers, noting that the government is giving consumers until December 31, 2025 to replace them free of charge.
“After the deadline, authorities mandated by law will begin confiscating these cylinders, and administrative penalties may apply,” Ty explained.
He stressed that consumers have every right to refuse unsafe LPG tanks. “If a dealer insists on selling or delivering generic cylinders, you can report them to the proper government agencies,” he added.
Ty emphasized that the goal is simple: clean up the industry and protect consumers from danger. Generic and uncertified tanks may have hidden defects or unsafe repairs that could lead to leaks, fires, or explosions.
“We only want a safe and orderly LPG industry, and to keep our consumers out of harm’s way,” Ty said.
His message to the public:
Be vigilant. Say no to generic LPG cylinders. Return them now—your safety comes first.
