Sarah Discaya and Curlee Discaya appeared at the Department of Justice (DOJ) on the morning of December 19 for a preliminary investigation into a tax evasion complaint filed by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). The two arrived separately, each in a different van.
After the DOJ proceedings, Curlee Discaya returned to the Senate, while Sarah was brought back to the NBI’s custodial facility within the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) compound in Muntinlupa City.
This comes after Sarah Discaya was officially arrested on the evening of December 18. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that it served warrants of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court of Lapu-Lapu City, Branch 27, in connection with multiple criminal cases. These include alleged violations of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and malversation of public funds through the falsification of public documents.
NBI operatives carried out the arrest following standard procedures. After booking and documentation, Sarah was temporarily detained at the NBI facility. She is scheduled to be escorted to Cebu to be formally presented before the issuing court in Lapu-Lapu City as part of the legal process.
The NBI emphasized that all actions were conducted in full compliance with due process and the rule of law, with further updates to be released through official channels as the cases move forward.
