Former Public Works and Highways Secretary Rogelio “Babes” Singson has stepped down as commissioner and member of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), marking a significant change in the newly formed body’s lineup.

ICI chairperson Andres Reyes Jr. confirmed that Singson’s resignation will take effect on December 15, although the transition period may extend until December 31 to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities.

Reyes also shared that Singson had expressed difficulty adjusting to the role, noting that he is not used to this kind of life. The comment hinted at the demanding nature of the commission’s work, which has been under close public and political scrutiny in recent weeks.

Singson’s exit adds another shift to the commission tasked with reviewing key infrastructure concerns, and the ICI is expected to announce adjustments or replacements in the coming days.
