Thousands of devotees gathered in Intramuros, Manila, on Sunday, December 7, for the 44th Intramuros Grand Marian Procession—one of the country’s most enduring traditions of Marian devotion.

Held annually in honor of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the procession once again brought together pilgrims, religious organizations, and families who accompanied 42 images of the Blessed Virgin Mary through the historic streets of the walled city.

This year’s Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Manila Archbishop Jose F. Cardinal Advincula. A highlight of the event was the presentation of an image of Our Lady of Aparecida by Brazil’s Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Gilberto Fonseca Guimarães de Moura. The ambassador formally entrusted the image—brought from the Basilica of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Aparecida in Brazil—to the Manila Cathedral as a gesture symbolizing unity and shared Marian devotion between the two nations.

The Intramuros Grand Marian Procession remains one of the most visually striking and spiritually significant annual events in Manila, drawing devotees who continue to uphold and celebrate the deep-rooted Marian traditions of Filipino Catholic life.
