As of 8:00 AM today, July 21, 2025, state weather bureau PAGASA continues to monitor a low pressure area (LPA 07G) currently located within the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The system is being closely observed due to its medium potential of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
While the LPA remains unorganized for now, it is contributing to the enhancement of the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, which is bringing widespread rains over several parts of the country. The southwest monsoon has already prompted PAGASA to issue Weather Advisory No. 23, emphasizing heavy rainfall scenarios over the coming days.
For today, areas including Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro may experience rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters. By tomorrow, July 22, the situation is expected to intensify, with Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro likely to see 100 to 200 millimeters of rain. At the same time, several other provinces such as Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Antique, Iloilo, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental could receive moderate rainfall between 50 to 100 millimeters.
The wet conditions are forecast to persist into Wednesday, July 23. Rainfall totals of 100 to 200 millimeters remain likely in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro, while a broad swath of Luzon and parts of the Visayas could see 50 to 100 millimeters of rain. This includes Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, and parts of Western Visayas.
PAGASA notes that rainfall amounts may be higher in mountainous and elevated areas, and the ongoing rains from previous days could worsen flooding and landslide risks. The public, along with local disaster risk reduction and management offices, is urged to remain alert and take appropriate precautionary measures to ensure safety and minimize potential damage.
Heavy Rainfall Warnings and localized thunderstorm or severe weather advisories may be issued by PAGASA Regional Services as conditions develop. Close monitoring of weather updates is strongly advised.
