TV5 Pulls Back On ABS-CBN Shows Over Unpaid Revenue Shares

TV5 has issued a statement explaining its decision to pause airing ABS-CBN programs, citing unpaid revenue shares that have strained its operations. The network emphasized that while it has always supported fellow broadcasters in need, its own financial obligations now require urgent attention.

In the statement, TV5 recalled how it welcomed ABS-CBN programs after the network lost its franchise in 2020, and also gave a home to Eat Bulaga in 2023. “We have always been a Kapatid to anyone in need,” the network said.

TV5 noted that its Content Agreement with ABS-CBN requires the latter to remit TV5’s share of advertising revenues on a timely basis. However, ABS-CBN has allegedly failed to pay the amounts due, which TV5 described as significant enough to affect its ability to compensate employees, talents, and partners involved in delivering these programs.

“Despite our repeated appeals, ABS-CBN has failed to pay what is due. Neither have they given assurances, nor indicated, that they can or will,” the network said.

TV5 stressed that it values its partnership with ABS-CBN and understands the financial challenges it faces. But the network added that it can no longer absorb the shortfall and must prioritize its own operations.

“To you, our viewers, rest assured that we are committed to serving you with the best programming, no matter what ensues from all these issues. Nananatili kaming tapat sa inyo, mga KAPATID!” TV5 concluded.
