The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) confirmed earlier today, July 11, that they have retrieved two sacks from beneath the waters of Taal Lake in Batangas. The discovery came as part of the ongoing search and rescue operations in the area, following reports of missing cockfighting enthusiasts.
According to the PCG, initial reports mentioned four sacks spotted underwater. However, PCG clarified that this earlier count was based on the divers’ first visual inspection, during which they could not yet get close enough to verify. It was only upon retrieval that the team confirmed there were in fact two sacks recovered.
The recovered sacks were carefully wrapped in a red net by the divers before being brought to the surface, in order to preserve their contents for further examination. PCG Commodore Geronimo Tuvilla explained that this precaution was taken to protect potential evidence.
The sacks are now in the custody of the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO), who will conduct a forensic investigation to determine what they contain and how they may relate to the missing persons case.
Search and rescue efforts by the PCG continue in Taal Lake today, as authorities work to locate the bodies of the missing cockfighting enthusiasts and gather more information surrounding their disappearance.
