Typhoon Tino continues to show its strength as it moves northwest, with PAGASA warning that the storm is now nearing the Sulu Sea after crossing parts of Western Visayas.

As of 4:00 PM today, the center of Typhoon Tino was located near Patnongon, Antique, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h and gusts reaching up to 180 km/h. The system is moving northwest at 15 km/h.

Strong to typhoon-force winds extend up to 300 kilometers from Tino’s center, affecting several provinces across Luzon and Visayas.

Areas Under Wind Signals
• Signal No. 4 (Typhoon-force winds): Calamian and Cuyo Islands, Antique, Iloilo, and Guimaras
• Signal No. 3 (Storm-force winds): Aklan, Capiz, northern Palawan, parts of Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental
• Signal No. 2 (Gale-force winds): Cebu, Bohol, Romblon, Oriental and Occidental Mindoro, and northern Palawan
• Signal No. 1 (Strong winds): Masbate, Quezon (south), Marinduque, and parts of Northern Leyte

Heavy Rains and Storm Surge Risks

PAGASA warned of life-threatening storm surges that may exceed 3 meters in low-lying coastal communities across Romblon, Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, and Negros. Residents are urged to stay alert and follow evacuation orders when necessary.

The weather bureau also cautioned fishermen and boat operators, as sea travel remains risky due to rough to very rough seas—with waves as high as 6 meters along affected coasts.

What’s Next for Typhoon Tino

Tino is expected to emerge over the Sulu Sea tonight and may cross northern Palawan early tomorrow morning before exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday night or early Thursday.

PAGASA forecasts that the typhoon could re-intensify once it moves over the West Philippine Sea.

Authorities are urging the public and disaster response teams to stay vigilant, prepare for possible flooding and landslides, and closely monitor official PAGASA updates.
