The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has issued an advisory strongly discouraging national teams, athletes, and sports personnel from undertaking non-essential travel abroad due to the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
In its statement, the PSC cited growing concerns over international air routes and transportation corridors that may be affected by the ongoing situation. The agency warned that the evolving conflict raises heightened safety and security risks, including possible regional escalation, increased military activity, and rapidly changing conditions on the ground.
The advisory comes as several Philippine teams currently overseas are already experiencing disruptions and are being assisted in arranging their safe return home. Given these developments, the PSC is urging National Sports Associations, team officials, and athletes to carefully reassess or postpone any planned international travel, taking into consideration risk levels, safety conditions, and overall necessity.
The commission emphasized that it continues to closely monitor the situation and will release further updates when needed. Above all, the PSC underscored that the safety and welfare of Filipino athletes remain its highest priority.
