10 Angono Officers Relieved Over Alleged Fake Drug Bust

Ten police officers in Angono, Rizal have been relieved from their posts and placed under restrictive custody after allegedly arresting a criminology student over what he claims was a falsified drug charge.
In a statement Wednesday, the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO-4A) confirmed that the officers are now under the custody of the Administrative Holding Section of the Rizal Police Provincial Office while an investigation is underway.
According to police, the arrest stemmed from a buy-bust operation around 10 p.m. on November 10, 2025. But closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage reportedly tells a different story — showing the complainant being intercepted as early as 5 p.m. while riding his motorcycle.
The student alleged he was coerced into admitting involvement in illegal drugs and was asked to pay ₱50,000. His family allegedly sent the money via GCash.
Despite the payment, a criminal case was still filed against him. However, the prosecutor later dismissed the case, citing inconsistencies between the arresting officers’ affidavits and statements from village watchmen and media representatives.
The 10 officers — composed of a police captain, a police chief master sergeant, two master sergeants, five staff sergeants, and a police corporal from the municipal anti-drug unit — are now facing an administrative complaint for grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer before the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM).
NAPOLCOM Executive Officer Rafael Vicente Calinisan said the Commission will act decisively and has ordered its Inspection, Monitoring, and Investigation Service to immediately probe the complaint.
PRO-4A, for its part, said it will conduct its own internal investigation to determine accountability and ensure due process is observed. The regional office also pledged full cooperation with NAPOLCOM.
