After spending nine months in detention in Russia, 24 Filipinos are finally set to return home and reunite with their loved ones, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced.

The President shared the development on Friday, describing it as a positive outcome made possible through cooperation between the Philippine and Russian governments.

Marcos expressed his gratitude to Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Federation for helping resolve the matter and facilitating the Filipinos' release.

“These 24 Filipinos will soon be on their way home after months of detention,” the President said, noting that efforts to secure their return had been ongoing.

While details surrounding their detention were not immediately disclosed, Marcos emphasized the importance of international cooperation in reaching a favorable resolution.

The returning Filipinos are expected to reunite with their families in the Philippines after months of uncertainty abroad, bringing relief to their loved ones who have been waiting for their safe return.

The government has yet to announce the exact date of their arrival, but preparations are underway to assist them once they return to the country.
