Seven Filipino crew members injured in a drone attack on a cargo vessel are now in stable condition and continuing their recovery, according to the Department of Migrant Workers.

DMW Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac gave the latest update on the condition of the Filipino seafarers affected by the May 5 attack on the container ship CMA CGM San Antonio while it was at sea.

According to Cacdac, the seven Filipino crew members sustained injuries during the incident but are now safe and receiving proper medical care.

Two of the injured seafarers are expected to return to the Philippines within the next few days, while the remaining five continue to recover inside a hospital in Oman.

The DMW chief assured the public that the injured crew members are being closely monitored and provided with the necessary medical attention and assistance.

Cacdac also revealed that the government is preparing support for some family members of the affected seafarers who wish to travel to Oman and personally visit their loved ones while they recover.

The department, he said, remains in coordination with concerned agencies, the shipping company, and the manning agency to ensure the safety, welfare, and immediate assistance of all affected Filipino workers.

The incident once again highlighted the risks faced by Filipino seafarers working in international waters, especially amid growing tensions and security threats along key global shipping routes.
