Residents in Valenzuela City may soon get better flood protection as nine pumping stations are scheduled to open this coming June ahead of the rainy season.

During an inspection on Tuesday, May 19, Vince Dizon checked the ongoing preparations, including upgrades at the Wawang Pulo Pumping Station.

According to officials, two new pumps were added to the facility, allowing it to discharge an additional 5,000 liters of water per second to help ease flooding in nearby communities during heavy rains.

Authorities also said that once the pumping stations officially open in June, they will begin using electricity from Meralco instead of relying on generators, which is expected to improve operations and efficiency.

The project forms part of the government’s flood mitigation efforts as the country prepares for the start of the rainy season in the coming weeks.
