Aliwan Fiesta 2026 Cancelled Due To Rising Costs

The Aliwan Fiesta will not take place this year after organizers announced the cancellation of its 2026 edition, citing rising fuel costs and logistical challenges. The event, originally scheduled for May 7 to 9, will not proceed as transporting festival contingents—including performers, props, and elaborate floats from different provinces—has become significantly more expensive.
Known as the “Grand Festival of Champions,” Aliwan Fiesta is one of the country’s largest cultural gatherings, bringing together top performers from across the Philippines. Traditionally held in Metro Manila, the festival features street dancing competitions, float parades, and cultural showcases that highlight regional traditions. For many local government units and performers, it serves as a platform to promote tourism, preserve heritage, and generate income for communities.
The welfare of participants and the logistical challenges of staging a large-scale event were key factors in the decision to cancel this year’s festival. Rising fuel costs have increased transportation and other operational expenses, reflecting broader economic pressures tied to global fuel price volatility.
Organizers said they hope to bring back the festival once conditions improve. The cancellation is expected to affect performers, vendors, tourism workers, and small businesses that typically benefit from the influx of visitors during the event.
