Actress Angel Locsin has shared a heartfelt open letter addressed to Senator Robin Padilla, reflecting on their friendship while expressing disappointment over some of the senator's recent positions on national issues.

In a post on social media, Locsin recalled the times they spent together, saying Padilla often shared stories about his younger years, including his decision to take up arms in the mountains because of his desire to fight for the country.

She said his recent statement reminded her of "the Robin Padilla" she once knew and admired, adding that she was glad to see him speak honestly.

However, Locsin also questioned Padilla's silence during the time she was being red-tagged despite, according to her, his knowledge that the accusations were untrue.

"Where were you when I was being red-tagged even though you knew it wasn't true?" she asked, adding that he was even with people whom she claimed had been behind the accusations.

The actress also raised concerns about Padilla's priorities as a senator. She said many Filipinos supported his candidacy because they expected him to be a strong voice for the country's Muslim community, but questioned why he appeared to be defending detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy instead.

Locsin further expressed disappointment over Padilla's stance on China, saying it was not consistent with the patriotism she once admired in him.

Despite her criticisms, the actress ended her message on a hopeful note, reminding Padilla that they both came from humble beginnings and owed their success to God and the Filipino people.

"Wake up, Kuya. It's not too late," she wrote.

The post has since drawn widespread attention online, with many netizens sharing their reactions to Locsin's candid message to the senator.
