President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has accepted the resignation of National Security Adviser Eduardo Año, Malacañang announced on Wednesday, April 15.

According to Palace Press Officer Claire Castro, Año is stepping down as he officially retires following a long career in the military and national security sector.

Año, a former Armed Forces chief and Interior secretary, has been a key figure in the country’s security landscape for years, holding various top-level posts across different administrations.

Taking over the role is former AFP chief Eduardo Oban Jr., who is set to lead the National Security Council as the government navigates ongoing national and regional security concerns.

The transition marks a significant shift in the country’s security leadership, with Malacañang expressing confidence in the incoming adviser’s experience and capability to carry forward the administration’s security agenda.
