Filipino volleyball star Bryan Bagunas is set to spend another season in Japan after Osaka Bluteon announced that it has renewed his contract for the 2026-27 campaign.
The reigning SV.League champions confirmed on June 18 that Bagunas will remain with the club as it looks to defend its title and continue building on its recent success.
Bagunas joined Osaka Bluteon in 2025 and quickly became part of one of the strongest teams in Japanese volleyball. The squad, bannered by Japanese star Yuji Nishida and coached by Tuomas Sammelvuo, captured the 2026 SV.League championship to end a seven-year title drought.
Widely regarded as one of the Philippines' top volleyball players, Bagunas first made a name for himself with National University before turning professional with the Cignal HD Spikers. He later enjoyed a successful stint in Taiwan, where he won multiple championships and earned Most Valuable Player honors before making the jump to Japan.
The 28-year-old outside hitter has also been a key figure for the Philippine men's national volleyball team, representing the country in several international tournaments and helping raise the profile of the sport back home.
With Bagunas staying in Osaka, the club is expected to keep much of its championship-winning core intact as it prepares for the new season and aims for another title run.
His return also gives Filipino volleyball fans another reason to follow the Japanese league, where Bagunas continues to compete against some of Asia's best players.
