Bato's Wife Asks For Prayers As Senator Faces Arrest Warrant

Nancy Dela Rosa, wife of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa, appealed for prayers on social media as the former Philippine National Police chief faces growing legal pressure linked to the Duterte administration’s controversial war on drugs.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Nancy revealed that the senator is currently hiding and carrying the burden of an arrest warrant, while struggling with fear, confusion, and uncertainty over his situation.

The emotional message asked for divine protection, wisdom, and guidance for Dela Rosa, while also praying that authorities involved in the case would be guided by justice and truth.

Her post quickly drew reactions online, with supporters expressing sympathy and offering prayers for the senator and his family. Critics, however, renewed calls for accountability over thousands of deaths linked to anti-drug operations conducted during the Duterte administration.

Dela Rosa played a major role in the government’s anti-drug campaign as chief of the Philippine National Police from 2016 to 2018. Throughout the years, he has repeatedly defended the bloody crackdown, insisting police officers only used force when their lives were in danger during operations.

Human rights organizations and families of victims, however, have long accused authorities of carrying out systematic extrajudicial killings during the campaign.

The senator has recently been linked to legal proceedings connected to the International Criminal Court’s investigation into alleged crimes against humanity tied to the drug war. Although the Philippines withdrew from the ICC in 2019 under former president Rodrigo Duterte, the tribunal maintains that it still has jurisdiction over alleged crimes committed while the country was still a member.

In previous interviews, Dela Rosa admitted he has been preparing for the possibility of arrest and exploring his legal options. He also said he would consider surrendering if all remedies were exhausted.

Nancy’s prayer reflected the emotional toll the controversy has taken on their family, as she asked for protection against fear and isolation while praying for strength and peace for the senator during the ongoing legal battle.

The message ended with a prayer seeking the intercession of the Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, St. Michael, and the saints.

The post comes as political tensions surrounding the Duterte-era drug war continue to intensify, with renewed scrutiny on officials who played key roles in the campaign. Supporters of Dela Rosa maintain that he only enforced the law during a period of worsening criminality, while critics argue that justice remains overdue for families affected by the deadly anti-drug operations.

As of writing, authorities have yet to publicly confirm the status of any arrest warrant against the senator.
