It was a night to remember for Bella Belen—both for the recognition and the performance.

Moments after powering Capital1 to a thrilling victory, Belen was formally handed the Philippine Sportswriters Association’s Ms. Volleyball Award, a prestigious nod to her growing impact on the sport. The awarding came right after their match at the Filoil Centre, making the evening even more special for the young star. She had missed receiving the award the previous night at the Diamond Hotel because of an illness.

Visibly grateful, Belen admitted she did not expect to receive such a major recognition, especially with so many talented players in the league. She thanked the Philippine Sportswriters Association and everyone who voted for her, calling the honor both humbling and inspiring.

Then she went out and proved exactly why she deserved it.

The 23-year-old outside spiker erupted for 29 points to lift Capital1 past the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in a gripping five-set showdown, 25-21, 18-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-10, in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference.

Facing a Choco Mucho side without Eya Laure, Capital1 still had to dig deep in a match that stretched over two hours. Belen delivered when it mattered most, scoring five points in the deciding fifth set and breaking a 6-all tie with back-to-back hits that shifted momentum firmly to the Solar Spikers.

She finished with 25 attacks, two kill blocks, and two aces, while also contributing heavily on defense with 15 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions. It marked her third career-high reset in four games and extended her streak of 20-point performances in the conference.

Despite briefly exiting in the fourth set due to cramps, Belen returned in the fifth with composure and confidence, helping Capital1 secure a 2-2 record in the tournament. Ezra Madrigal and Shaya Adorador added seven points each, while Roma Mae Doromal anchored the floor defense with 22 excellent receptions.

For Belen, the key was staying disciplined.

She shared that Choco Mucho was never an easy opponent, and that sticking to their roles and game plan allowed them to weather the momentum swings and close out the match.

With an individual award in hand and another clutch performance in the books, Belen now shifts her focus to Capital1’s next challenge against the Creamline Cool Smashers.

If this game was any indication, Bella Belen’s rise is far from over.
