Big Fuel Price Rollback Set To Start June 23
FILE
Motorists across the country are set to see significant relief at the pump as a major rollback in fuel prices is expected beginning Tuesday, June 23, based on a post by Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin.

Garin said fuel prices are projected to go down for the week of June 23 to 29, with gasoline expected to drop by about ₱3.90 to ₱5.90 per liter. Diesel may go down by ₱9.04 to ₱11.04 per liter, while kerosene could decrease by ₱9.82 to ₱11.82 per liter.

If implemented, the rollback would be among the larger weekly reductions in recent months, particularly for diesel and kerosene, which are widely used in public transportation, freight operations, agriculture, and small businesses.

Fuel price adjustments in the Philippines are reviewed weekly and are generally based on movements in the international oil market, particularly benchmark crude prices such as Dubai crude, as well as refined product trading in Asia. Exchange rate movements and global supply conditions also play a role in determining domestic pump prices.

The Department of Energy (Philippines) has repeatedly explained that local fuel prices closely track global oil trends, meaning increases or decreases in world market prices are quickly reflected at the pump.

If the projected rollback pushes through, consumers may see lower transportation and logistics costs in the coming week, which could also help ease pressure on prices of goods and services. However, final adjustments may still vary slightly depending on the official announcements of oil companies ahead of implementation.
