The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), with the assistance of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), secured 19 motor vehicles on Wednesday, April 29, as part of the government’s ongoing tax investigation involving businessman Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya and related entities.
In a statement, the BIR said 15 of the vehicles were registered under the names of Pacifico Discaya II and Cezarah Rowena Discaya. These units were placed under “constructive distraint,” an administrative measure used by the bureau to preserve assets while tax investigations are still ongoing.
The agency explained that constructive distraint allows authorities to secure properties without immediately taking physical possession of them, helping ensure that assets remain available while tax liabilities are being reviewed.
Aside from the 15 vehicles, four other units were placed under constructive seizure because of an existing tax assessment involving St. Gerrard Construction General Contractor & Development Corporation.
The company is currently facing collection proceedings tied to alleged unpaid tax obligations, according to the BIR.
The latest move comes amid intensified government efforts to crack down on tax-related violations and enforce collection measures against individuals and companies under investigation.
