In line with the commemoration of Rabies Awareness Month, the Provincial Government of Bulacan rolled out a major initiative aimed at protecting both animals and communities.
On March 19, 2026, the province—through its Provincial Veterinary Office—successfully spearheaded the country’s first-ever nationwide “Mass Spay and Castration Project.” The synchronized effort brought together 22 provinces, 40 cities, and 19 municipalities across the Philippines, marking a significant step toward controlling the population of stray animals.
The campaign, anchored on the theme “A Rabies-Free Future Starts with Me,” focuses not just on reducing the number of strays but also on preventing the spread of Rabies—a deadly but preventable disease.
Officials emphasized that beyond government action, public participation remains crucial. Pet owners are being encouraged to practice responsible pet ownership, ensure regular vaccinations, and take an active role in safeguarding their communities.
With strong collaboration nationwide, the initiative signals a hopeful move toward a safer, rabies-free future—one responsible pet owner at a time.
