Cebu Pacific has canceled several flights to and from General Santos City after a powerful magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao on Monday, disrupting flight operations in the region.

In an advisory issued at 12:30 p.m., the airline announced that multiple domestic flights scheduled for June 8 would no longer operate due to the impact of the earthquake.

The affected flights include routes between Manila and General Santos, Cebu and General Santos, as well as Iloilo and General Santos.

Passengers booked on the canceled flights have already been notified through email and have been given several options to manage their travel plans through the airline's online booking portal.

Travelers may choose to rebook or reroute their flights to General Santos without additional charges. However, Cebu Pacific noted that fare differences may apply if the new travel date is more than 30 days from the original flight schedule.

Passengers may also opt to convert the value of their tickets into a Travel Fund, which can be used for future flight bookings or add-on services such as baggage allowance and seat selection.

Those who no longer wish to travel may request a full refund of their tickets.

Cebu Pacific said the situation remains fluid and warned that additional flight changes could still occur as authorities continue to assess conditions following the earthquake.

The airline advised passengers to regularly check their flight status and ensure their contact information is updated to receive the latest travel advisories and notifications.

"We appeal for your patience and understanding as we work towards normalizing our operations as soon as possible."

The airline said it will continue to provide updates as necessary as it monitors the developing situation in Mindanao.
