Cebu Pacific Lands Among World's Most Sustainable Airlines

The low-cost carrier Cebu Pacific has landed in the top 25 percent of the world’s most sustainable airlines, according to the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), the airline announced Thursday.

Even more impressive, Cebu Pacific ranked as the most sustainable airline in the Philippines, scoring 47 — well above the industry average of 37 and outperforming many of its low-cost peers.

So what does that actually mean?

The CSA evaluates how companies manage their environmental impact, take care of their employees and communities, and maintain responsible business practices. In short, it’s a global benchmark for how “green” and responsible a company really is.

And Cebu Pacific has the numbers to back it up.

In 2025 alone, the airline flew nearly 27 million passengers across more than 170,000 flights. But despite the surge in travel, it still managed to cut down its environmental footprint — avoiding around 35,000 tonnes of carbon emissions and saving about 11,000 tonnes of jet fuel through fleet upgrades and more efficient operations.

“We continue to take a disciplined and proactive approach to sustainability as we expand our operations,” said Aileen Isidro, the airline’s Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk.

Cebu Pacific also reported lower emissions per passenger, bringing it down to 75.7 grams of carbon dioxide per revenue passenger kilometer — a sign that efficiency is improving even as more people take to the skies.

Looking ahead, the airline isn’t slowing down. It aims to operate a fully modernized all-NEO (new engine option) fleet by 2030, while also rolling out more electric ground support equipment across key airports.

For Cebu Pacific, the message is clear — growth and sustainability don’t have to come at the expense of each other.
