The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has filed a criminal complaint for obstruction of justice before the Department of Justice (DOJ) against Senator Robinhood Padilla and five other individuals over the alleged controversial movement of Senator Ronald Dela Rosa from the Senate premises in the early morning of May 14.
CIDG Director Robert Morico II said on Thursday, May 28, 2026, that investigators are looking into the possibility that the incident was a planned escape, based on their initial findings.
The complaint, now with the DOJ’s National Prosecution Service, accuses the respondents of obstruction of justice for alleged actions that may have helped facilitate or conceal the senator’s exit.
Aside from Padilla, five others were also named in the complaint, including members of his staff. Authorities have yet to release detailed evidence supporting the allegations.
The DOJ will conduct a preliminary investigation to determine if there is sufficient basis to elevate the case to court.
