The Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival has put the spotlight on nine of its full-length finalists for its 22nd edition, featuring films that reflect Filipino experiences and explore themes of identity, family, culture, and society.
In a social media post, Cinemalaya described the featured entries as stories that "reflect our experiences and open worlds that shape our understanding of ourselves, others, and society."

Among the entries, 2 Valid IDs follows the struggles of an ordinary Filipino dealing with government requirements, while May Buntot ang mga 'Yan highlights the culture and traditions of the Mangyan community. Dangeom explores the journey of a Korean-Filipino aspiring dancer searching for acceptance, and Tirik revisits moral dilemmas set against the backdrop of the country's anti-drug campaign.

Now on its 22nd edition, Cinemalaya continues to serve as one of the country's premier platforms for independent Filipino filmmakers, supporting original stories that resonate with local audiences while earning recognition on the international stage. The festival is scheduled to return this August, bringing together filmmakers and moviegoers to celebrate Philippine independent cinema.
