MANILA — One of the most iconic strategy game franchises is making a big move to mobile and beyond. Sid Meier’s Civilization VII Arcade Edition officially launches on Apple Arcade on February 5, bringing the full-scale PC strategy experience to iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
Fans of the long-running series can now build and manage empires wherever they are. As the game’s creators put it: “Build the greatest empire the world has ever known.” In this latest chapter, civilizations evolve as players progress through different ages of human history, with every major decision shaping a unique cultural path. Players can stay true to historical roots or experiment with bold, alternate outcomes, creating a legacy that unfolds over time.
The arrival of Civilization VII strengthens Apple Arcade’s growing lineup of premium PC-quality titles, following recent additions like PowerWash Simulator and Cult of the Lamb Arcade Edition. Like all Apple Arcade games, Civilization VII Arcade Edition comes with no ads and no in-app purchases.
Also launching on February 5 are three new games that add variety to the service’s catalog. Retrocade taps into nostalgia by bringing together classic arcade titles such as Asteroids, Galaga, Centipede, and Bubble Bobble, recreating the look and feel of old-school arcades. The game is playable on iPhone and iPad, with an immersive experience available on Apple Vision Pro.
Meanwhile, Felicity’s Door offers a fresh rhythm-based adventure set in a dreamlike world. Players follow twins Tom and Felicity, along with their bear companion Mi-chan, as they journey through space, coastal landscapes, and cyberpunk-inspired cities. Rounding out the new releases is I Love Hue Too+, a visually soothing puzzle game where players organize colorful tiles into perfectly balanced spectrums.
Apple Arcade is also rolling out new updates and limited-time events. Starting January 22, Paddington returns to Crayola Create and Play+ for a winter-themed event featuring snowy activities, creative crafts, and family-friendly mini-games.
Apple Arcade is available for $6.99 per month in the U.S. with a one-month free trial. Customers who buy a new iPhone, iPad, Mac, or Apple TV receive three months free. The service is also included in Apple One subscription plans, which offer different tiers for individuals, families, and premium users. One subscription gives up to six family members unlimited access to more than 200 games, with availability depending on device compatibility and region.
With Civilization VII leading the February lineup, Apple Arcade continues to position itself as a serious destination for both casual players and hardcore strategy fans.
