It was a statement night in the Premier Volleyball League—one that showed exactly why champions rise in big moments and stars take over when it matters most.
The Creamline Cool Smashers moved a step closer to another title after a commanding straight-sets win over the Cignal HD Spikers, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, in Game 1 of the All-Filipino Finals. What looked like a potential grind turned into a showcase of composure, as Creamline leaned on experience to take control late in each set.
Jema Galanza led the charge with 17 points and solid floor defense, while Bernadeth Pons and Tots Carlos provided steady firepower. At the net, Bea de Leon and Pangs Panaga delivered timely blocks, all orchestrated by Jia de Guzman’s crisp playmaking.
Despite a strong 17-point outing from Vanie Gandler, Cignal struggled to keep up, undone by errors and Creamline’s relentless discipline. Now, the Cool Smashers are just one win away from their seventh All-Filipino crown and 11th overall title—with a possible clincher looming in Game 2.
Meanwhile, the battle for bronze delivered pure drama as PLDT High Speed Hitters outlasted the Farm Fresh Foxies in a five-set thriller, 22-25, 25-21, 27-25, 26-28, 15-11.
Savi Davison took over in the decision—scoring four of PLDT’s final five points and finishing with a massive 33-point performance. Her clutch blocks and attacks in the fifth set sealed the win after more than two hours of intense action.
Kim Dy added 18 points, while setter Kim Fajardo steered the offense with 36 excellent sets. On the other side, Trisha Tubu exploded for 30 points, but was repeatedly denied in crunch time.
With both series now leaning heavily in their favor, Creamline and PLDT head into Game 2 carrying momentum—and a chance to close things out and bring home hardware.
