The death toll from the building collapse in Barangay Balibago, Angeles City has risen to 17 after rescuers recovered another body from the disaster site early Tuesday morning.
Authorities confirmed that the 17th casualty was extricated at around 4:08 a.m. on June 2, as search and retrieval operations continued for the tenth straight day.
Despite the challenging conditions, emergency responders remain on the ground, working around the clock to locate any remaining victims trapped beneath the rubble.
Officials said the ongoing operation is being carried out under a Unified Command structure, allowing various government agencies and response teams to coordinate closely on resources, operational priorities, and safety measures.
The collaborative effort has been crucial in sustaining the lengthy recovery mission, with personnel continuing to carefully clear debris while ensuring the safety of both rescuers and equipment at the site.
As operations enter their tenth day, authorities remain committed to completing the search while providing support to the families affected by one of the deadliest building collapse incidents in the city’s recent history.
