Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon inspected two flood-prone areas in Parañaque City on Monday, May 18, as concerns continue to grow over recurring flooding affecting nearby communities.
During the inspection, Dizon visited Villanueva Creek near Manila Memorial Park and Don Galo Creek in Barangay Moonwalk to assess the condition of the waterways and identify possible solutions to the flooding problem in the area.
Authorities found that both areas had long been neglected and lacked proper interventions, which contributed to the rapid flooding experienced by residents during heavy rains.
According to officials, the situation has been causing major inconvenience to families living near the creeks, especially during bad weather when floodwaters rise quickly.
The local government of Parañaque City is now coordinating closely with the DPWH to fast-track the implementation of flood control and rehabilitation projects expected to begin within the year.
Officials hope the planned projects will help reduce flooding and improve drainage conditions in affected communities across the city.
