Dizon Leads Ground Check In Mayon Ashfall Clearing As Roads Begin To Reopen In Albay

Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon personally went to the Camalig–Guinobatan Road along the Maharlika Highway to inspect ongoing clearing operations by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), ensuring the route is safe and passable for motorists after being blanketed with thick ashfall from the recent activity of Mayon Volcano.
Dizon’s on-site visit underscored the government’s push to speed up recovery efforts in affected areas, as heavy ashfall had temporarily disrupted road visibility and travel in parts of Albay. DPWH teams have been working non-stop, deploying heavy equipment and personnel to clear roads and restore normal traffic flow.
The inspection also comes in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive for stronger coordination among government agencies. The goal is not only to keep major roads open but also to ensure the safety of residents living in areas impacted by the volcanic activity.
Authorities said that cleanup and monitoring operations are continuing across multiple road networks in Albay, with more equipment and manpower being mobilized as needed. The government is also closely watching conditions around Mayon Volcano as response efforts remain in full swing.
For now, officials assure the public that restoration work is progressing steadily, with priority given to key routes that connect communities and support emergency response operations
