ILOILO CITY — Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the immediate repair of a long-unfinished and deteriorating road in Molo, Iloilo City after the issue was raised during his visit to the province.

The concern was brought to his attention by Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu, who reported that the road had remained incomplete and in poor condition for around two years. The matter surfaced during Dizon’s inspection trip in Iloilo, which also included a visit to infrastructure projects in the province.

Dizon expressed frustration over the lack of earlier communication regarding the issue, saying it had not been reported to him during his previous visit to the area and noting the public impact of the delay.

“Problema ko dito, walang nagsabi sa akin na may problemang ganito nung last akong pumunta dito sa Iloilo. Isipin mo, two years, minumura tayo [ng mga tao] araw-araw dito. We have to work together. Tama na yung dati na hindi kayo nakikipag-usap sa Mayor. I want this started next week,” he said after being briefed on the situation.

The Department of Public Works and Highways is expected to coordinate with local officials to begin addressing the stalled project following the directive.

Dizon emphasized the need for stronger coordination between national and local government units, stressing that infrastructure projects should be completed on time and directly benefit communities rather than remain unfinished for years.

The road in Molo has drawn concern from residents and local officials due to its prolonged unfinished state, with portions reportedly left disrupted and difficult to pass through.
