Dizon Pushes Restoration Of Storm-Damaged Infrastructure In Cebu

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon is intensifying efforts to restore damaged infrastructure in Cebu, acting on the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to prevent another wave of devastating floods.

The push comes in the aftermath of Typhoon Tino, which struck in November 2025 and left key flood control systems compromised, putting several communities at risk.

To address this, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has shifted into full-scale operations, working 24/7 to repair and reinforce critical infrastructure. Priority is being given to flood control structures along the Mananga River—one of the hardest-hit areas during the storm.

Speaking during an inspection in Talisay City, Dizon emphasized the urgency of completing the work before the rainy season begins.

“The President wants to ensure everything is inplace as soon as possible,” he said, noting that close coordination with local officials, including Governor Pamela Baricuatro and Mayor Samsam Gullas, is helping drive progress on the ground.

With crews working non-stop, authorities are aiming not just to repair—but to strengthen—Cebu’s defenses against flooding, as communities brace for the coming rains.
