Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon joined Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo in showcasing the newly improved Mt. Villanueva Avenue, highlighting a modern road design focused on the needs of pedestrians, cyclists, and commuters.

The upgraded avenue now features wider sidewalks, dedicated bike lanes, designated public utility vehicle (PUV) stops, underground cabling, and other pedestrian-friendly improvements aimed at making travel safer, more convenient, and more comfortable for the public.

According to Dizon, the project aligns with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to transform major roads across the country into spaces that prioritize pedestrians and commuters rather than just vehicles.

During his visit to Naga City, the Public Works chief also inspected the Mabolo-Almeda Bypass Road project, which had been stalled for nearly five years. The government is now pushing to complete the road by the first quarter of 2027.

Once finished, the bypass road is expected to provide a faster route for motorists and commuters traveling to and from the Visayas and Mindanao, while also helping ease traffic congestion in Naga City.

Dizon said the government remains committed to accelerating infrastructure projects that improve mobility, reduce travel time, and deliver long-term benefits to local communities and the economy.
