Dizon Tells Youth Step Up And Help Restore Public Trust In Government

Public Works and Highways secretary Vince Dizon urged young professionals and fresh graduates to take an active role in reforming the agency and helping rebuild public trust in government.
The push comes following instructions from Ferdinand Marcos Jr., who called for the recruitment of idealistic and dynamic young professionals to inject integrity and renewed energy into public service.
Speaking candidly to students during the DPWH Job Fair held Thursday at De La Salle University, Dizon didn’t sugarcoat the situation.
“There is hope. But there’s no hope if people like you don’t join us,” he told the crowd. “Maraming masasamang tinapay dito, so we have to take them out and replace them with you guys.”
His message struck a mix of urgency and optimism — acknowledging long-standing issues within the system while challenging the next generation to be part of the solution.
More than 400 applicants attended the second leg of the DPWH job fair, which is set to continue in schools and universities across the country. The initiative aims not just to fill positions, but to reshape the culture within the agency by bringing in young professionals driven by purpose and reform.
For Dizon, the mission goes beyond recruitment. It’s about rebuilding confidence in public institutions — one new hire at a time.
