Double Boost! Bicol Minimum Wage Set To Rise Twice In 2026
FILE
Good news for Bicol workers: next year, daily minimum pay is getting a double lift. The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board – Region V (RTWPB‑V) approved Wage Order No. RBV‑23, which will increase wages in two stages.
Starting April 8, 2026, the daily minimum wage will rise from ₱435 to ₱455. Then, on December 1, 2026, it will go up again to ₱480. The adjustments cover all private sector workers in cities and provinces across Bicol, including Legazpi, Naga, Iriga, Masbate, and Sorsogon.
Minimum wage rates in the Philippines vary by region, so Bicol workers have historically earned less than peers in Metro Manila. These new increases aim to help workers keep up with the rising cost of living, from food and housing to transportation.
DOLE and the RTWPB‑V monitor inflation and other economic indicators to ensure wages stay fair while balancing business sustainability. Employers, including micro and small enterprises, are expected to implement the new rates and have been provided guidance on compliance.
The two-stage hike is designed to ease financial pressure on workers and their families while keeping the Bicol Region’s workforce supported as the economy continues to grow.
