The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has started repair work on a damaged dike in Barangay San Vicente, Abra de Ilog, Occidental Mindoro after it collapsed due to strong river currents brought by days of continuous rainfall.
The rehabilitation comes following the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who ordered the DPWH to immediately restore the damaged structure to help protect nearby communities from further risks during the rainy season.
Authorities said the repair aims to strengthen the dike and ensure the safety of residents living along the river as heavy rains continue to affect parts of the country.
