DPWH, LGUs Team Up To Fix Community Infra Woes

Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon is putting local governments front and center in the push to solve infrastructure problems across communities—following a clear directive from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr..
According to Dizon, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is now working closely with local government units (LGUs) nationwide to ensure that infrastructure funds are used where they matter most—and that real community needs are addressed.
“Kailangan talagang makatrabaho natin ang mga mayor,” Dizon said, stressing that mayors have firsthand knowledge of the problems on the ground. “They know exactly what their communities need.”
The secretary shared that teams have been actively going around the country to meet with local leaders—part of President Marcos’ directive to directly engage with mayors and better understand local infrastructure concerns. Dizon noted that the President’s own experience as a former governor gives him a deeper grasp of the challenges faced by LGUs.
The approach was on full display in Naga City, where Dizon personally inspected infrastructure projects and an Oplan Kontra Baha site alongside Mayor Leni Robredo.
With this stronger DPWH-LGU partnership, the goal is simple: faster solutions, better project implementation, and infrastructure that truly serves the people on the ground.
