The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is accelerating construction of slope protection structures to prevent soil movement and protect homes and public buildings before the rainy season.
The riverside community has long faced worries over softening ground, which previously caused cracks in houses and even damaged the Barangay Hall. Responding to these concerns, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered the DPWH to fast-track the remaining work to ensure immediate protection for the area.
During a site visit, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, and District Engineer Aristotle Ramos reviewed progress. The project involves installing 18-meter sheet piles to reinforce the embankment and stabilize the soil.
DPWH assured residents that the project will be closely monitored and completed as quickly as possible, providing a long-term solution to the community’s long-standing concerns about landslides and soil movement.
