Veronica “Kitty” Duterte says her father, former Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte, is in stable condition and gradually adjusting to life in detention at the International Criminal Court facility in The Hague.

In an interview shared on YouTube by Duterte supporter Alvin Sarzate, Kitty described her recent visit to the ICC detention center in Scheveningen, where her father is currently being held in connection with ongoing international proceedings linked to the court’s investigation into alleged human rights violations during his administration’s anti-drug campaign.

Kitty said Duterte appeared physically well during their meeting.

“He looks good, his skin looks good, he eats enough, and I think he has adjusted better already. Although again, nothing is ideal in this situation,” she said.

She also shared that while her father is coping better with detention, he still experiences moments of loneliness.

“He feels a bit lonely sometimes. He did mention kanina. I think he was a bit sad while saying this, he said, ‘At least you won’t be embarrassed at me kasi wala akong ginawang masama,’” she said.

Kitty said she immediately reassured him of their family’s full support and pride.

“I held his hand and said, ‘Papa, no one’s embarrassed at you. All five of us, including me, are very proud to be your flesh and blood [and] everyone outside,’” she said.

The ICC detention facility holds individuals facing international charges while legal proceedings continue. Duterte’s case remains under global attention as the court continues its investigation.

Despite the situation, Kitty emphasized that their family remains united in supporting him emotionally, saying their bond has not weakened even under difficult circumstances.
