Filipina tennis sensation Alexandra Eala continued her impressive run on the international stage after booking a spot in the semifinals of the Berlin Open with a straight-sets victory over world No. 8 Elina Svitolina.

Playing at the Steffi Graf Stadium in Germany on Friday, Eala delivered another composed performance, defeating the Ukrainian star 6-3, 6-4 in the WTA 500 tournament.

The win extends Eala’s remarkable streak on grass courts and moves her one step closer to another major title. Awaiting her in the semifinals is Czech standout Linda Noskova, who advanced after defeating Spain’s Paula Badosa, 6-1, 6-3.

The upcoming clash will be a familiar one for both players. Eala and Noskova previously faced each other at Indian Wells, where the Czech player secured a dominant 6-2, 6-0 victory. This time, however, Eala enters the rematch carrying plenty of momentum and confidence.

The 20-year-old Filipina has been one of the tournament’s biggest stories. Before reaching the semifinals, she stunned world No. 2 Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals, winning 7-5, 6-4. She also opened her campaign with a victory over Donna Vekic, fresh from her HSBC Championships title at Queen’s Club, 7-5, 6-4.

Currently ranked No. 35 in the world, Eala arrived in Berlin riding high after capturing the WTA 125 Birmingham Open crown. Her latest victories further cement her status as one of the rising stars in women’s tennis and continue to showcase her ability to compete with—and defeat—the sport’s top-ranked players.

With a place in the final now within reach, all eyes will be on Eala as she seeks revenge against Noskova and continues her dream run in Berlin.
