Filipina tennis star Alexandra Eala continued her impressive run at the 2026 Internazionali BNL d’Italia after defeating China’s Wang Xinyu, 6-4, 6-3, in the second round in Rome.

The win sends the 20-year-old into the Round of 32 of the prestigious WTA 1000 tournament, marking another breakthrough moment in her rising professional career.

Wang entered the match as the No. 31 seed and had previously beaten Eala in their earlier meeting this season, but the Filipina flipped the script with a composed and aggressive performance on clay.

Eala controlled key stretches of the match, taking advantage of break-point chances and keeping pressure on her opponent throughout the contest. She maintained steady service games and dictated rallies at crucial moments to secure the straight-sets victory.

The win sets up a third-round clash for Eala against either Elena Rybakina or Maria Sakkari, both former top-ranked players and Grand Slam contenders.

Eala earned her place in the main draw after a hard-fought three-set victory over Poland’s Magdalena Frech in the opening round, continuing what has been a strong breakout season on the WTA Tour.
