Tropical Depression Ester has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), but weather officials are warning that the southwest monsoon, locally known as Habagat, will continue to bring rain, strong winds, and rough seas to several parts of the country.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin on Saturday, PAGASA reported that Ester was located about 550 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, already outside PAR. The weather disturbance was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour, with gusts reaching up to 55 kilometers per hour, while moving east-northeast at 20 kilometers per hour.

Although Ester is no longer within the country's monitoring area, authorities stressed that its effects, combined with the southwest monsoon, may still be felt in some regions, particularly in Northern Luzon.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal is currently in effect anywhere in the country. However, PAGASA said strong to gale-force wind gusts associated with the southwest monsoon may continue to affect the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and Cagayan Valley throughout the day. On Sunday, similar conditions are expected over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands.

Mariners are also being advised to remain cautious as rough sea conditions persist in northern coastal waters. Wave heights of up to three meters are forecast along the seaboards of Batanes and the northern coast of the Babuyan Islands. Small fishing boats and other light vessels have been urged to stay ashore due to the hazardous conditions.

Moderate seas are likewise expected in several coastal areas, including parts of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro. Boat operators are encouraged to take precautionary measures and avoid unnecessary sea travel when possible.

Looking ahead, PAGASA said Ester is expected to continue moving northeastward over the East China Sea while maintaining its current strength. The tropical depression may gradually intensify as it heads toward southern Japan.

Weather forecasters reminded the public that heavy rainfall and strong winds can still occur even outside the forecast track of a tropical cyclone. Residents in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and other weather-related hazards are encouraged to stay alert and follow instructions from local authorities.

Unless the weather disturbance re-enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility, this will be PAGASA's final bulletin on Tropical Depression Ester.
