Caritas Philippines Executive Director Fr. Tito Caluag has clarified that the decision to remove the third episode of *YSpeak 2.0* and stop airing the youth-oriented program on free television came from him, citing editorial standards and organizational values.
In a statement released on May 31, Caluag addressed concerns raised by viewers after the show's third episode, which aired on May 23, was taken down. He acknowledged the public reaction and thanked supporters for voicing their opinions.
“I wish to clarify that I, as the representative of Caritas Philippines, the producer of the show, was the one who asked that the episode be taken down,” Caluag said.
He described the move as a difficult decision, explaining that it was guided by the organization's internal editorial policies and core principles. According to him, there were also other factors that influenced the decision, which he said had already been discussed with those directly involved.
Questions also emerged after the program's fourth episode failed to air on ALLTV2 on May 30. Caluag confirmed that this was likewise his decision.
“Again, this was my decision in part due to the other considerations I referred to in the previous paragraph. The other consideration was to focus on and strengthen our online presence where most of the youth are,” he said.
Despite the recent developments, Caluag emphasized that *YSpeak* remains committed to providing a platform where young Filipinos can freely express themselves while promoting responsible and thoughtful discussions.
“YSpeak and YSpeak 2.0 were created to always be a safe space for the Filipino youth and will continue to strive to be such,” he said.
He added that the program's mission remains centered on civic formation and education, while maintaining an inclusive environment for young people from different backgrounds and perspectives.
Caluag also revealed that he met with four of the show's six hosts to discuss the situation and the future direction of the program. Two hosts were unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts, although they were informed about the discussions.
As discussions continue, Caluag thanked supporters for their concern and asked for prayers as the team determines its next steps.
“Again, thank you for your concern and honest expression. Please keep us in your prayers,” he said.
