Kiel Calvin “Oheb” Soriano and AeronnShikii are now at the center of a growing controversy, as Team Liquid Philippines finally addressed the issues surrounding its roster changes.
In a message to fans, the organization admitted that many were left frustrated and confused—and acknowledged that they should have communicated sooner.
“We hear you… and we owe you better,” the team said.
Oheb’s Sudden Exit
Team Liquid PH revealed that Oheb was never meant to be replaced this season. In fact, the team fully expected him to remain a key part of their campaign in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines.
But on February 2, Oheb informed management that he wanted to step away from competitive play—without any prior discussions or warning.
The organization said they offered to guide him through a proper retirement transition, which typically takes a full season to protect both the player and the team.
However, communication reportedly stopped shortly after.
Despite multiple attempts to reach him, Team Liquid PH said they received no response until February 6, when Oheb formally requested to resign—leaving the team with just five business days to find a replacement.
The team described the situation as a breach of contract and confirmed that legal action is now being pursued.
The AeronnShikii Situation
With no available Tier 1 gold laners locally, Team Liquid PH turned to AeronnShikii as a last-minute solution.
Early impressions were promising. The team praised his performance in scrims, saying he quickly proved he had the level they were looking for.
But complications arose due to unresolved administrative requirements.
Team Liquid admitted they made a mistake by announcing AeronnShikii before securing full clarity on his eligibility timeline. Updates later showed he might only be able to play by mid-season—or even as late as the playoffs.
That uncertainty forced a difficult decision.
The team said starting the season without a complete roster would hurt their campaign, limit development, and affect preparations for international competitions like the Esports World Cup.
As a result, AeronnShikii will be leaving the team’s bootcamp. Management added they are actively working to help him land with another team where he can compete immediately.
Moving Forward
The situation has put Team Liquid PH under intense scrutiny, with fans demanding transparency and accountability.
While details remain limited due to legal and professional constraints, the organization made one thing clear: they are trying to move forward from a difficult and unexpected situation.
For now, the spotlight remains on Oheb and AeronnShikii—two names that have come to define one of the most dramatic roster shake-ups in the current MPL season.
And as the dust settles, Team Liquid PH faces the challenge of rebuilding—not just its lineup, but also the trust of its fans.
